About this topic: Marriage/Weddings
In these weddings by women artists, it is not only the "props" or "rituals" of marriage ceremonies which are explored, the premises of heterosexual union are questioned and the relationship between love and marriage uncoupled.
Marriage as a means to migration is explored, including the larger questions of exploitation of women in international marriage markets. In subverting this institution of heterosexuality, women artists protest against the bomb, marry themselves as male or female, celebrate lesbian relationships, marry their art, a building, a bridge!
